History

The company name, Continental Bakeries B.V., has been in existence since 1 January 2006. However, the Continental Bakeries group has been around longer. The company roots go back as far as the 19th century, with the table below showing an overview of the company's history. The history of the individual production sites can be found under "Branches".

Establishment of Haust (Crisp bakes/Toast) in Amsterdam.

1905

Establishment of Hooimeijer (Crisp bakes) in Rotterdam.

1933

Relocation from Rotterdam to Barendrecht.

1959

Take over of Hille/ Haust (Toast) in Amsterdam.

1974

Take over of AHO (Varied cookies, like spiced cookies amongst others) in Goirle.

1975

Take over of Bussink (Honey cake & Fruit loafs) in Deventer.

1985

Take over of Baartmans (Sandwich biscuits) in Rucphen.

1993

Haust merges with Hagemann, located in Gronau Germany. Hagemann focuses on Germany, Austria, Switserland, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

1997

Take over of Pirouwafer (in 1998 start Rice wafers production) in Oostmalle (Belgium).

1998

Auer Blaschke and Auer Kft. (Wafers) are taken over (Austria/Hungaria).

1999

Take over of Barkhuis (Honey cake & Fruit loafs) in Kielwindeweer.

2003

Relocation Haust from Barendrecht to Dordrecht.

2006

The company name changes into Continental Bakeries B.V.

2007  Take over of Stieffenhofer (Shortcake biscuits, seasonal Lebkuchen & Cake flans) in Bassenheim/Koblenz-Güls (Germany) and The Rice Cake Factory (Rice cakes) in Ghislenghien (Belgium).
2008 Continental Bakeries Hungary GmbH (formerly Auer Kft.) leaves the Continental Bakeries group. Acquisition of Gillebagaren AB (Oat biscuit & Ginger snaps) in Åsljunga and Örkelljunga. The factory in Goirle is closed.
