Rucphen

Continental Bakeries (Rucphen) B.V. (formerly Baartmans) - Rucphen

History

In 1910 Cees Baartmans started a honey cake factory in Bergen op Zoom. In 1952 the decision was made to end this production. The family business moved to Roosendaal and switched over to a wide assortment of wafers. Around 1960 Baartmans Wafelfabriek NV started with the production of pastry as well. In 1972, two large fires afflicted the company within a short period of time, after which they decided to purchase a factory in Rucphen. Within a year they had production up and running. Next, Baartmans started to specialise in biscuit articles, sandwich biscuits in particular. The company has been part of the Continental Bakeries B.V. since 1985 (back then, the Hooimeijer group).
